Power units

The count of self-propelled vehicles (tractors, trucks, buses) a carrier operates — the standard measure of fleet size in FMCSA data.

A power unit is a self-propelled commercial vehicle — a tractor, straight truck or bus. Carriers report their power-unit count on the MCS-150 form, and it's the most consistent apples-to-apples measure of fleet size across the FMCSA registry.

Fraktix normalizes fleet size across countries (power units in the US, authorised vehicles in the UK, and so on) so carriers can be compared on one scale.
