Out-of-service (OOS)

An FMCSA order barring a carrier, driver or vehicle from operating until a serious safety or compliance problem is resolved.

An out-of-service order prohibits a carrier, driver, or vehicle from operating on public roads because of a serious safety violation or a compliance failure (for example, a lapsed insurance filing or an unsatisfactory safety review).

OOS status is a red flag for anyone booking or insuring a carrier. Fraktix flags out-of-service status, with the OOS date, on US carrier profiles.
